Look at God Go!

One of the phrases I’ve been using lately when someone shares an answer to prayer or some other piece of incredible news is, “Look at God go!” Admittedly this phrase is a bit hokey, but at those times when I’m overwhelmed by what God has done and I’m fumbling around for words, this expression is what comes out.

These are the words that came to mind as I was looking back at photos of the first public worship service at Lazarus in 2020 and our charter as a congregation in 2023. When we launched in 2020, there were twenty-six people (if you include everybody’s kids) who were fully committed to helping get this church startup off the ground.

When we became an official congregation in 2023, sixty-six people committed to being part of the church. And three years after that, one hundred and five people are official members plus many more who call Lazarus their home church!

Over Lazarus’s existence, we’ve participated in thirty-two baptisms, including eighteen infants and fourteen students/adults. That’s incredible!

Both infant baptisms and student/adult baptisms are occasions for celebration because someone has become a child of God! Student/adult baptisms are an important metric for us because people who are baptized as students/adults typically experienced some form of disconnection from the church before becoming baptized. So having student/adult baptisms tells us that we are fulfilling the purpose for which Lazarus Church was started: to connect disconnected people to Jesus, His Church, and His kingdom calling!

In the last six plus years, God has answered prayer and worked incredibly through the people of Lazarus Church! Looking back on our past and looking forward to our future, I can’t help but say, “Look at God go!”
